South Lakes Conservatives pick new Leader

Long serving Councillor, David Williams, has been elected as the Leader of the Conservative Group on South Lakeland District Council

The member for Bowness South has been a leading Conservative in South Lakes for many years and takes the helm from Councillor James Airey who stepped down to concentrate on leading the County Council group.

David Williams thanked Councillor Airey for his hard work over the past years and commented saying “I am honoured to lead the Conservatives on South Lakeland District Council. We will back up the Administration when they are right and give them hell when they are wrong. Conservatives will continue to push for car parking reform and cleaner streets as well as standing up for residents who all to often go unheard.”

South Lakes Conservative Ben Berry commented saying “David is an excellent Councillor who is able to see things most would miss, often thanks to his years as a Solicitor and Company Director. I welcome his leadership of the Tory Resistance and look forward to working closely with him.”

Grange’s leading Councillor, Tom Harvey, will continue in his role as Deputy Leader.
