In 1953 Troutbeck village suffered horrendous flooding resulting in thousands of pounds worth of damage as well as the sad loss of one life.
To commemorate the event there was an event this evening, 60 years later.
With a charity donation of £2 for entry including tea and biscuits the turnout was excellent.
There was an exhibition showing many of the headlines and articles along with pictures of the event.
Compare these two outside my house:
Much of the damage was in this area of the village, including the death of a holiday maker to the Mortal Man pub.
This picture of a newspaper shows more of the devastation.
Many thanks to all involved.
